The Middle East - Suffocated by Rules

A black dark veil covered by face

With small holes I saw the outside world

While the others stared at my hijab cautiously

Trying to figure out what's underneath it

The heat and humidity stuck to my face

Closing around me

Constantly

Taunting me,

Just like this new world

I was in exhaustion

Tired by the suffocation

Polygynous marriage common here

Distrust between the wives

A barrier, impossible to cross

Limits more often than not

Accepting reality the importance of life

The scared mind pushing reality closer and closer

Till at once there is no hope but to accept

Scared by the terrorism

Fighting and terror seemingly just beyond the hills

Looking at you with a sly smirk

Waiting calmly for the winter to set in

Waiting to wreak havoc

In Allah's name

Waiting to put lives at stake

In Allah's name

Jihad overcoming the government

In Allah's name
