Paris- The Last Piece of The Puzzle

Paris- The Last Piece of The Puzzle

The 5 hour journey came to an abrupt stop, pushing me to realize that this was the last city in our 15 day tour of Europe. I pushed that fleeting thought away; determined to enjoy Paris and not dwell about our flight back home.

We quickly left for the hotel, the rain on the window clouding my view - the same drizzle that I had come to adore. This city emanated the word " cosmopolitan". The cobbled streets were narrow which made it uniquely beautiful. The hubbub of the city fascinated me, even more so by its greenery and antiquity. The city was bubbling with excitement by night and quiet and calm by morning and yet again for a fleeting second the word "unique" pushed through.......

It was early evening and we had booked a cruise on the River Seine, a tour of the Eiffel Tower and a tour of the city by night.

The Eiffel Tower was like a beacon of hope - standing up to lift the people and pushing them to cross that line that made this city amazing. The river was clean and cool and on its banks were people relaxing, playing music. This was right out of a movie!!

The night tour of the city was slightly boring as I could see little outside; since the rain had fogged the glass.

The next day we went to the Louvre, It was the largest museum and was underground. We saw the inverted pyramid. I could relate to a few paintings like Mona Lisa, David with the head of Goliath and Coronation of Napoleon. The Mona Lisa was certainly worth the visit and the Louvre became part of the few museums I enjoyed.

In the afternoon we went to Champs-E'lyse'es a truly enchanting street with the Arc de Triomphe on one end and endless shops on the other. It was an ancient street if uncovered, another base of the Parisians lifestyle, slightly modified by the years to become a hotspot for attractions.

We were set to leave the next day but we received a call saying that our flight would be postponed by a day. Now the date of departure set in bold I decided to enjoy these last few days in Europe. The weather was surprisingly good, warmer than Switzerland but cooler than Rome.

It is remarkable that for a city as big and popular as Paris it had architecture, had greenery and had  manageable traffic- a perfect place to live. Typically metro cities are places where you want to work in, not live in. For the third time that day its uniqueness shone through

The next day we roamed the city, ate crepes and practically absorbed the culture and lifestyle there - a big tick in the box. We saw the Notre Dame and a few other sights but what I most enjoyed was wandering around, making a plan on the way; something I would suggest to all of you.

Ultimately my first international trip was my best, its memories stay stamped in this blog for me and others to cherish.
